EPAM is pleased to announce the promotion of a number of senior associates at the Firm’s Moscow and St. Petersburg offices. Effective July 1, 2019, Evgeny Gurchenko, Victor Radnaev, Vladimir Talanov and Oleg Ushakov have been promoted to counsel.
Evgeny Gurchenko (St. Petersburg) has been involved in dispute resolution in real estate and construction, corporate governance, insolvency and restructuring, as well as the financial sector for over 15 years. His mandates include representing the founders of Transaero Airlines in a landmark bankruptcy case (the creditor’s claims on the list exceeds RUB 280bn), representing a client in dozens of litigations over the construction of a sports facility worth approximately USD 1bn, representing the Bank Saint Petersburg in legal proceedings seeking to recover the debts under a loan exceeding USD 500m in the High Court of Justice in England, as well as coordinating the related legal proceedings in France, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and BVI. He has been recognized by Acritas Stars, Best Lawyers and Pravo.ru. He has been admitted to the St Petersburg Bar Association.
Victor Radnaev (Moscow) has been advising and representing clients in international arbitration proceedings, as well as on the matters of cross-border litigations and foreign judgments and awards recognition and enforcement in Russia. His recent highlights include arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules arising out of a product sharing agreement; under the SCC Rules in Stockholm between a subsidiary of a Russian oil and gas company and its Ukrainian counterparty in a dispute arising out of the termination of a drilling contract; under the LCIA Rules in proceedings arising out of a share purchase agreement entered into by a large CIS industrial company. Victor holds a PhD in Law. He is recommended by Best Lawyers and has been admitted to the Moscow Bar Association.
Vladimir Talanov (Moscow) has been representing clients in complex cross-border disputes and advising them on matters of international trade law, foreign investment, trade remedies, foreign trade, as well as the Eurasian Economic Commission and the World Trade Organization (WTO) operations. He has experience in coordinating litigations in Russia, USA, EU, Turkey, India, Singapore, Serbia, England and Wales, as well as other countries. His clients include the leading Russian metal pipe manufacturer, the largest Russian automotive group and a global aluminum giant. He has also represented the Russian Federation in a number of disputes over foreign investment protection. Vladimir teaches at the law schools of St Petersburg University and National Research University Higher School of Economics. He has been recommended by Best Lawyers since 2014.
Oleg Ushakov (Moscow) specialises in capital markets and offers expert advice on securitizations, issuance of structured instruments, offering of shares (including IPOs) and bonds, as well as restructuring. He has also advised the largest Russian banks on attracting investments which ultimately exceeded RUB 30bn. Oleg has been engaged in unique projects such as: the Mortgage Securities Factory launched by the Agency for Housing Mortgage Lending, the first ever Russian securitization of non-mortgage assets for Credit Europe Bank, and the registration of Alfa Bank subordinated bonds program to list some highlights.
