Evgeny Raschevsky practices international commercial arbitration and litigation, and specializes in management of complex cross-border disputes. Не is experienced in the arbitration proceedings under ICAC of CCI of Russia (MKAS), ICC, LCIA, SCC and Swiss Rules. His portfolio includes coordination of high-profile court cases in the UK, the USA, Germany, Turkey, India and other countries. His industry specialties include energy development and supply, commodities, shipping, pharmaceutical regulation. 

Evgeny acted as one of the lead counsel for the Russian Government in the USD 1bn international arbitration under UNCITRAL rules in the ExxonMobil claim against the Russian Federation and the Sakhalin region. Recent noteworthy projects include: management of several cases brought to challenge EU sanctions against Russian manufacturers, successful representation of the Ministry of Finance in arbitration under SCC Rules, a complex litigation project aimed at protecting a client’s assets in Tajikistan, and arbitration in India in relation to a Russian–Indian industrial joint venture with parallel “satellite” proceedings in several Indian state courts.

Evgeny Raschevsky is the Head of Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Practice of the firm and is managing a number of matters for companies in this industry sector. His in-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical sector and its regulations play to his strength when advising other companies in this industry. For instance, he has advised a European investment company on various regulatory and compliance issues related to the Russian pharmaceutical market.

Evgeny has been recognised as a leading expert in the area of international arbitration by GAR 100, Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers. He is one of only 11 Russian lawyers endorsed as “leading individuals in dispute resolution” in Russia by The Legal 500. He has authored numerous articles in specialised Russian and international legal publications in the area of international arbitration and civil law, as well as several leading Russian commentaries in the field of international arbitration. He lectures in arbitration and bankruptcy at the Masters’ programme of the Law Faculty of Moscow State University.

Evgeny is admitted as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and International Counsel for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), and holds a position with the Arbitrators Nominating Committee of the Russian Arbitration Association (RAA). He is the President of the Subcommittee on Arbitration of Domestic Disputes of the Russian Arbitration Center (RAC). He is a member of the SIAC Users Council’s Russia Committee, a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Task Force on Arbitration of Climate Change Related Disputes. He is a vice president of the International Arbitral Tribunal of the Qingdao Arbitration Commission in the SCO demonstration area. Evgeny is among the arbitrators of the Board for International and Investment Disputes at the RSPP Arbitration Center.

He has been admitted to the Moscow Bar Association since 2003.

Evgeny Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Volgograd State University in 1999, received his Master of Civil Law at the Russian School of Private Law in 2001 and a PhD in Civil Law in 2004. In 2020 Evgeny has successfully passed his Kaplan QLTS exam, the sole authorised assessment provider for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), providing a route for lawyers from other recognised jurisdictions, and barristers from England and Wales to qualify as solicitors of England and Wales.
