In September 2019, popular carpooling service BlaBlaCar announced its intention to purchase Russia’s largest online bus ticket aggregator Busfor. The Firm’s Competition Practice team managed to obtain clearance for this landmark deal from the FAS Russia by proving that it would not limit competition on the market for online bus ticket sales.

Attorneys of EPAM successfully defended Novartis Pharma (of Novartis Group) in the antimonopoly and legal proceedings in a dispute initiated by the antimonopoly authority to check the price of a drug, whose price had not been regulated.

Petersburgsky Traktorny Zavod belongs to the Kirovsky Zavod PJSC group, the oldest and the largest Russian producer of tractors. PTZ JSC tractors and other road equipment have been produced under Kirovets brand since the 1960s, and with their remarkable appearance and special model IDs, they have become widely known amongst customers over the course of their 50 year manufacturing history.

In the course of the FAS Russia (Federal Antimonopoly Service) proceedings, the Firm’s antimonopoly team succeeded in proving that the marketing program of our client’s competitor was in conflict with anti-monopoly laws. The program involved the competitor encouraging supermarket employees to promote goods in an attempt to circumvent trade law requirements, however, these actions were found to be in violation of fair competition rules.

Associates at EPAM devised and successfully executed a competent strategy to represent ALVIZ, a subsidiary of Russia’s largest alcoholic beverages company Beluga Group, in a trademark infringement dispute, allowing ALVIZ to continue to market its key brand, Arkhangelskaya vodka.

On November 24, 2017, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS) approved the petition to establish a joint venture by Yandex N.V., and Uber International S.V.. EPAM acted as the main legal adviser when seeking approval of the transaction from the FAS.

On 17 April 2017 Arbitrazh Court of Moscow district approved a settlement agreement between the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Google and Yandex corporations, thereby bringing to an end a dispute which had run for more than two years. With the settlement agreement the parties succeeded in finding an acceptable arrangement for managing the consequences of violations of antimonopoly law previously identified by the FAS, and ensuring competition on mobile app market – for mobile search apps in particular.

Cherkizovsky Meat Processing Plant is a well-known manufacturer of processed meat products in Russia and part of the Cherkizovo Group, one of Russia’s largest agribusiness holding companies.

EPAM’ Competition Law practice has successfully defended the interests of T2 Mobile (Tele2) – a nation-wide mobile operator in Russia – in a precedent-setting case against the Moscow Metro regarding unfair tariffs for placing telecommunications equipment in the metro.
