EPAM announces closing of the Russian part of the transaction between Metro and Auchan on sale of the real,- Hypermarket chain in Eastern Europe

EPAM announces that the parties successfully closed the Russian part of the global transaction contemplating the sale of real,- Hypermarket chain owned by Metro Group to the French retailer Auchan. The Russian part of the transaction was closed in April 2013.

EPAM defends the interests of Russian pipe manufacturers in the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia

On March 14, 2013 the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia completed the proceedings against large-diameter pipe manufacturers that had lasted for more than a year. EPA&P’s Competition Law Practice represented ZAO TD TMK (Pipe Metallurgical Co) in the antitrust violation proceedings.

EPAM defends interests of Dalmorgeologiya in court

The Firm’s Maritime Shipping/Transport Law team defended the Client’s interests in a dispute with insurance company MAKC regarding the payment of insurance compensation in the amount of RUR 23.5 million in connection with the loss of a ship. On 15 May 2012, the Maritime Arbitration Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation determined that the compensation should be recovered in full, along with interest for the inappropriate use of others’ funds in the amount of RUR 1.9 million.

The firm’s White Collar Crime team successfully defends Vodokanal’s management in a criminal case

Alexey Rizhkin, a Senior Associate with the Firm’s White Collar Crime team, successfully defended Vodokanal’s management in a criminal case opened on 23 April 2010 under article 247 part 2 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code, relating to the illegal discharge of oil products from Izhorskiye Zavody and pollution of the Izhora and Neva rivers.

EPAM successfully represents Evraz in obtaining antimonopoly approval in latest acquisition

Russia’s FAS (Federal Antimonoly Service) granted its approval on December 25, 2012 to Evraz Plc for an increase of its share in Raspadskaya OJSC. Evraz, a multinational vertically integrated steel making and mining company headquartered in London, was represented by EPA&P’s antitrust practice team led by Partner Natalia Korosteleva.

On December 7, 2012 the draft bills creating a new concept – commissioners for entrepreneurs’ rights – were introduced to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
