Anastasia Berbeneva specialises in antitrust law and represents clients before the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS Russia) in cases involving abuse of dominance and anti-competitive agreements. She also represents clients in obtaining transaction clearance from FAS Russia and the Government Commission for Control over Foreign Investments and advises on compliance with anti-sanctions regulations
Her experience includes:
- defending a coalition of companies bringing together Avito, IVI, CIAN, Profi.ru, Tutu.ru, Drom.ru, 2GIS and Zoon in a case involving Yandex's use of special enriched search engine formats, the so-called "wizards", which were available exclusively to Yandex's own services for priority promotion on its search engine;
- defending the interests of an international flooring market leader before the FAS Russia by proving the anti-competitive nature of the franchising agreements and bonus programs of its competitor Tarkett, the largest linoleum manufacturer in Russia;
- representing one of Russia’s largest insurance companies in proceedings before FAS Russia concerning an alleged anti-competitive agreement;
- obtaining approval from the Government Commission for a transaction involving the acquisition of production facilities belonging to an international construction group in the Russian Federation;
- advising on and obtaining regulatory clearance for the acquisition of an international information security software company by an international investment group;
- obtaining clearance from FAS Russia for the acquisition of a major pulp and paper business in Russia;
- obtaining approval from the Russian Ministry of Finance for dividend payments to foreign shareholders of a Russian pharmaceutical company;
- advising a major Russian metallurgical company on antitrust compliance and the implementation of an antitrust compliance programme.
Anastasia graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law of the Higher School of Economics (2019) and obtained a Master of Laws degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University (2021).
