EPAM’ Pro Bono Efforts Recognized in Special Category of Pravo.ru-300 Rankings

At the Pravo.ru-300 awards ceremony held in Moscow on December 5, the Firm was recognised for undertaking the Best Pro Bono project. The award was presented by distinguished Russian legal scholar and statesman Pavel Krasheninnikov.

A team of the Firm’s lawyers headed by partner Andrey Porfiriev acted as the lead legal advisor for the Enjoyable Aging Foundation in their project to develop a model system for the long-term care of senior and disabled citizens.

The Firm’s task force assisted in studying the law of elderly care, identifying crucial elements regarding long-term care and then determining the necessary actions and main budget items for such a system. Additionally, the Firm’s lawyers compiled relevant legal and financial information to facilitate the Russian Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the Russian Government Executive Office in their consideration of launching the Enjoyable Aging Foundation’s  pilot project which will assess the feasibility of the Foundation’s long-term care model. Attorneys of the Firm also supported the Foundation’s representatives throughout the course of their meetings with Government officials and the Labour Ministry by providing day-to-day advice during preparation for the project’s launch.

The work of the team, which includes both the Firm’s engaging lawyers and employees from the foundation, successfully encouraged the pilot project’s launch in six regions throughout Russia. The government admitted the necessity of state level sponsorship for the long-term care of senior and disabled citizens.

“We are very pleased to be awarded in the Pro Bono category, where we submitted our work for the socially important project ‘Enjoyable Aging’. As a leading national law firm, we cannot stay out of worthy initiatives. For our Firm, charity is not only and not so much about monetary donations. The Firm is trying to invest our time, knowledge and expertise in the public in order to improve a certain sphere of life in Russia,” commented Andrey Porfiriev on the win.
