Lawyers of EPAM speak at the Traditions and Innovations in Russia’s Modern Legal System international conference of young scientists

On April 1-2, 2011 lawyers of EPAM took part in the Xth International Conference of Young Scientists “Traditions and Innovations in Russia's Modern Legal System”, organized with support from the Rector's Office at the Young Scientists Council and the Student Scientific Society of the Moscow State Law Academy, named after O.E. Kutafin.

Over the past 10 years, the forum has evolved from a local event to become a major international conference of young scientists, annually bringing together participants from both Russia and abroad to discuss all areas of modern Russian law, as well as applied legal sciences.

In 2011, over 350 students, post-graduates and professors from leading Russian and foreign law universities participated in the event.

Speaking at the plenary session, Mikhail Kazantsev, a partner at EPAM, discussed the aspects of a career in a law firm. Based on his own experiences of dealing with young lawyers, he covered the issues of motivation, stages of career growth, the qualities required in a young lawyer, and described the work ethics that exist in EPAM law.

During the event, Law Offices employees delivered master classes for the young scientists:

  • Coordination of work on cross-border transactions (Artur Dyachenko and Asel Zhumanova);
  • Due Diligence in IPO Projects. Handling the documents (Nikita Gurin and Natalia Udaltsova);
  • Mandatory offering and squeeze-out: objectives and issues in Russia (Tatiana Boyko).

Andrey Porfiriev, senior lawyer at EPAM, acted as a moderator of the Russian Constitutional Law Section. Andrey Mashkovtsev, senior lawyer, and Andrey Reznichenko, lawyer, moderated the Civil Law Section; Nikita Gurin, attorney, moderated the Entrepreneurial Law Section; Mikhail Emelyanov, lawyer, moderated the Civil Process Section; Anna Leonova, lawyer, moderated the Labour and Social Security Law Section; Olga Vishnevskaya, lawyer moderated the International Private Law Section.

Aleksey Kokorin and Valeria Romanova, junior lawyers at EPAM, presented reports at the conference.

Aleksey Kokorin presented a report on ‘Future Shareholder as a Party to a Shareholder Agreement under the Russian Law’. He was also recognized as the best speaker of the section and was awarded a grant from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
