EPAM sponsored the Litigating and Arbitrating Commercial Disputes in England: Practical Issues for Russian Clients and Their Advisers Seminar

The Litigating and Arbitrating Commercial Disputes in England: Practical Issues for Russian Clients and Their Advisers seminar, organized by the Bar Council of England and Wales and the UK Consulate-General took place in Saint Petersburg today. The event was and held in collaboration with the Saint Petersburg Law Offices of EPAM.

The seminar provided an opportunity for the participants to present practical guidelines for litigation or arbitration in England and enforcement of foreign judgments and awards in Russia. The leading Russian and UK legal counsel and in-house lawyers from Russian companies doing business with their foreign partners discussed interim remedies both in Russia and the UK, the particulars of commercial dispute resolution in foreign jurisdictions for Russian parties, possible options for funding litigation and arbitration and many other issues.

Ilya Nikiforov, managing partner of EPAM delivered a speech on the subject of Enforcement of Foreign Court Judgments and Arbitration Awards in Russia and discussed the procedure of how foreign court judgments and arbitration awards are recognized and enforced in the Russian Federation, the specifics of enforcement of judgments in the cases involving non-resident companies, and how to overcome challenges on the way to judgment enforcement.
