Natalia Korosteleva to speak at Moscow’s III Annual Antitrust Regulation Conference

Natalia Korosteleva, Partner at EPAM, to speak on Major Events in 2011 and Their Effect on Antitrust Regulation at the Antitrust Regulation Conference organised by Vedomosti newspaper in Moscow.

The Russian antitrust laws and their practical application are again on the verge of new changes. In the near future the “third antitrust package” will be adopted, which is called to create a more transparent antitrust regulation system for business, the Russian Antitrust Service believes. Even now the Russian FAS (Federal Antitrust Service) began to act more aggressively to implement the antitrust policy, more vigorously applying economic market analysis tools and conducting unexpected audits of major players.

Concurrently, global cooperation between antitrust authorities is expanding in an effort to align antitrust regulations of various countries, sharing best practices and enlarging competence boundaries of antitrust authorities, which allow for a more efficient implementation of antitrust policies on a global scale.

The event will be attended by representatives of the Russian FAS and antitrust authorities from other countries as well as leading lawyers and economists specialising in competition law, who will discuss most pressing matters in antitrust regulation both nationally and globally.

Natalia Korosteleva will deliver a speech within the session entitled “Major Events in 2001 and Their Effect on Antitrust Regulation”. The following topics to be discussed during the session:

  • FAS consent to Uralkaly and Silvinit merger resulting in an “absolutely dominating” entity
  • Expanding FAS price regulation practice by tying Russian domestic prices to foreign indices
  • The antitrust agency’s attempts to impact the pricing policy of business entities in the environment of fluctuating demand
  • The Google case and other investigations in the Internet technology market
  • Changes in public procurement FAS’ role in creating a competitive environment for public procurement
  • FAS decision on Novo Nordisk
  • Case on Rusal’s price manipulations in the energy market
  • Case against Novella state corporation in financial markets regulation
