Ivan Smirnov to speak at St. Petersburg Youth Environmental Forum 2014

On 8–9 September 2014, the St. Petersburg Youth Environmental Forum will be held with the support of the city’s government. Ivan Smirnov, Managing Partner of the St. Petersburg office of EPAM, will moderate a discussion on environmental law.

For the first time in the history of Russia’s northern capital, leading experts, trainers, politicians, and entrepreneurs will gather at a single venue to engage in an open dialogue with the young people involved in St. Petersburg’s environmental protection community. Over the course of two days, 200 university students – all winners of a qualifying contest – will present their projects, hear about the experience of current practitioners in the field, and learn key skills in different areas of environmental protection from the experts.

The Forum will bring together young environmental scientists, environmental volunteers, future lawyers in the field of ecology and environmental protection, business representatives, entrepreneurs who use eco-technologies in their work, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment and services aimed at solving environmental problems, representatives of the environmental authorities of Russian regions and municipalities, commercial banks, leasing companies, special environmental investment funds, experts in environmental monitoring, and analysts.

Topics to be covered at the Forum include:

  • Environmental law
  • Environmental volunteering
  • Fundraising
  • The ‘green’ economy

On 8 September, the first day of the Forum, Ivan Smirnov, Managing Partner of the St. Petersburg office of EPAM, will moderate a discussion on ‘Improving Russian Legislation in the Field of Environmental Protection: Balancing the Interests of Business and Society’.

Detailed information is available on the Forum’s site.
