Ilya Nikiforov presents at the research-to-practice conference “Civil and Tax Law: Conflicting Interpretations of Law”

From 30 October to 1 November a research-to-practice conference “Civil and Tax Law: Conflicting Interpretations of Law” was held in the Law School of the Saint Petersburg State University. Ilya Nikiforov, the Managing Partner leading the Saint Petersburg office of EPAM, participated in the conference.

The research-to-practice conference focused on legal notions defined in the civil and tax law, ownership and taxpayer’s liability, good faith in civil and tax law, civil and public safeguards of taxpayer’s rights. Reports were given by Anton Ivanov, the Chairman of the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation, associate professors of law schools of the Universities from Saint Petersburg and Moscow and partners of leading law firms.

On 1 November Ilya Nikiforov gave a presentation on “Abuse of Private and Public Law: Definition, Forms, Aftermath”, as part of the session on “Good Faith in Civil and Tax Law”. Ilya’s presentation made a particular focus on issues of law abuse in the context of the financial crisis.
