Evgenia Evdokimova delivers lecture on pledge law at St. Petersburg Advocacy Institute

On 14 October 2013, Evgenia Evdokimova, Associate at the St. Petersburg Law Office of EPAM, delivered a lecture entitled ‘Current Problems with the Application of Pledge Law’ at the St. Petersburg Advocacy Institute.

The lecture focused on practical questions arising from the use of collateral and an analysis of the latest legal opinions of the Supreme Arbitration (Commercial) Court in this field. More specifically, the following issues were examined: the acquisition of pledged property by a person who was not and was not supposed to be aware of the lien on the property; the good faith acquisition of the lien from the non-owner; the dismissal of the lien; and questions related to the application of such specific types of pledges as a pledge of goods in circulation. The procedures for the enforcement of pledges and consequent implementation were also analysed.

The Institute of Legal Research, Advocacy, and Mediation (the St. Petersburg Advocacy Institute) was founded by the St. Petersburg Bar Association to teach attorneys and practicing lawyers new knowledge and skills, and to provide professional training and development.
