EPAM sponsors MSLA Debating Club President’s Cup

The Kutafin Moscow State Law Academy hosted on October 27-28, 2012, the 5th MSLA Debateing Club President’s Cup, an international parliamentary debate tournament. EPAM was the event’s primary sponsor. Arthur Dyachenko, an Associate at the firm, was directly involved in organizing the tournament.

The event was held as part of the 2012-2013 Student Associations Development Program of the Kutafin Moscow State Law Academy.

The tournament was attended by 200 guests from various Moscow universities such as Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow Aviation Institute, Russian Academy of Justice, Higher School of Economics, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology; as well as from universities of St. Petersburg, Velikiy Novgorod, Kostroma, Cheboksary, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. There were also participants from Ukraine, Belarus and Estonia.

This year, the cup winners are: “Not by Dovlatov Alone” – Marat Fayzullin and Michael Naki (High School of Economics)

Finalists:

• “Free Berlusconi!” – David Bokuchava and Vladimir Shakhrur (St. Petersburg); “First Opposition” – Anton Pleshakov and Dmitry Lenkevich (MGIMO/Institute of Physics and Technology);
• “Two Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of Kant)” – Mikhail Evdokimov and Inna Malaschenko (Tallin/ High School of Economics).

Winners of Finals between young teams:

• “Two men and a half” – Elena Raskina and Anna Lyagalova (St. Petersburg)

Best Speaker – Vladimir Shakhrur (St. Petersburg)

Best Young Speaker – Aleksey Nogovitsin (Moscow State University)

Best Judge – Andrey Averyanov (Bauman University)

Best Young Judge – Elizaveta Besfamilnaya (University of Medicine and Dentistry)
