Attorneys of the Litigation Practice at EPAM have successfully represented the state-owned enterprise Morsvyazsputnik, the only Russian supplier of INMARSAT satellite communications services, in a contractual dispute with Glonass North-West. The associates are now to represent Morsvyazsputnik against the company in compulsory liquidation proceedings.

EPAM has secured its latest victory in a series of significant cases representing consumers in disputes with grid companies over payment for electricity consumption outside the scope of a contract, where the amounts demanded vastly exceed the cost of the electricity actually used.

A team from the Litigation Practice at EPAM helped Bank Saint Petersburg to secure victory at the High Court in London in its dispute with borrower Vitaly Arkhangelsky and Oslo Marine Group Ports (OMG Ports).Proceedings in this case began back in 2009 and have spanned four jurisdictions: Russia, Bulgaria, France, and England. Over 20 cases were heard in the Russian courts, whose rulings were recognised and enforced overseas.

Associates at EPAM devised and successfully executed a competent strategy to represent ALVIZ, a subsidiary of Russia’s largest alcoholic beverages company Beluga Group, in a trademark infringement dispute, allowing ALVIZ to continue to market its key brand, Arkhangelskaya vodka.

The team of lawyers of EPAM’ Minsk office took on the role of legal counsel to Citigroup Global Markets Limited and Raiffeisen Bank International AG (being the joint lead managers) on issuance and placement of sovereign Eurobonds of the Republic of Belarus totaling to $ 600m. The transaction completed on March 1, 2018.

Litigation attorneys from the St. Petersburg Office of EPAM have defended the interests of Razvitie Zdorovia i Sporta LLC in a dispute over the recovery of billions of roubles’ worth of losses. The Commercial Court upheld the view taken by the Firm’s associates and dismissed the claim seeking the recovery of over RUB 1 billion. In addition, the Commercial Court granted a counterclaim filed by Razvitie Zdorovia i Sporta seeking to recover RUB 100 million from the plaintiff.
