Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners are pleased to announce that the Belarusian National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup 2012 International Law Moot Court Competition held in Minsk on February 11, 2012 have been successfully completed.
The 2012 Jessup competition dealt with important and widely disputable issues of recognition of the government, responsibility of member states for unlawful actions of international organisations, sovereigns’ jurisdictional immunity in foreign domestic courts and consequences of destruction of a cultural site inscribed in the World Heritage List.
The team from the International University “MITSO” won the title of Belarusian National Champion and will represent Belarus at the International Rounds in Washington, D.C. on 25-31 March, 2012.
The “Best Memorial” prize of the National Rounds went to International University “MITSO”, and the “Best Oralist” prize was given to Andrei Usau, a student from the same University.
The level of participants' knowledge was evaluated by Managing Partner of Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners (Minsk) – Dennis Turovets, as well as International Law scholars, partners and associates of other Belarusian law firms, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
For the third year in a row, Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners, the largest CIS law firm (formerly Magisters), serves as the National Administrator of the Belarusian Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. In addition, EPA&P's associates annually participate as arbitrators in the National rounds of the competition in Russia.
