Key appointments: new Counsel promoted at EPAM

EPAM announces the internal promotion of seven Counsel firmwide: Elena Gavrilina – in Moscow; Vladimir Lobastov and Ilya Tur – in St.Petersburg; Sergiy Grebenyuk, Dmytro Marchukov and Roman Stepanenko – in Kyiv.

Elena Gavrilina, PhD, is a Counsel of the Real Estate and Construction Practice. She advises on real estate, land law, privatisation, public procurement and other federal and municipal property management matters. Elena is experienced in structuring of, and legal support for, major privatisation deals; advising on ownership and lease conveyance deals involving public land plots; advising on disposal of public properties and other methods of making public properties available for general trade, including implementation of investment projects involving public legal entities; performing market-value appraisals; and performing legal due diligence in respect to privatised and other properties. Before joining EPA&P, Elena was Chief of the Legal Support Section at the Legal Department of Vnesheconombank Investment Company LLC (VEB Capital). Prior to that, Elena worked for two years as Deputy Director of the Legal Department at the Federal Agency for Management of State Property (Rosimuschestvo). Elena also has 10 years of experience working with the Russian Fund of Federal Property, a specialised state institution of the Russian government. She is a member of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Justice Law Enforcement Advisory Board, she was awarded certificates of merit by the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation and by the Russian Fund of Federal Property. Elena graduated from the Law Department of the Moscow State Law Academy.

Vladimir Lobastov specializes in advising on investment, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and competition law. His professional interests also cover regulation and judicial practice in asset acquisition, due diligence, tax planning, construction, and PPP. Vladimir has participated in a number of cross-border projects involving legal due diligence, tax planning, legal structuration, and gaining the agreement of the antimonopoly service on a market saturation issue. In addition, he has experience in advising on IP and property development for residential and industrial construction. Prior to joining EPAM, Vladimir worked as General Counsel at Glavstroy SPb, as National Director for Legal Affairs at Multon Group (a Coca-Cola company), and Commercial and Legal Affairs Manager at Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia. He is a member of the PPP Expert Council of the Committee for Economic Policy, Innovations and Entrepreneurship of the Russian State Duma and the Advisory Council for the Federal Antimonopoly Service in St. Petersburg. Vladimir Lobastov graduated from St. Petersburg State University School of Law and completed a postgraduate programme at King’s College (University of London).

Ilya Tur is the Head of Litigation Practice at the St. Petersburg Law Office of EPAM. He specializes in representing the interests of clients in ongoing cases before Russian courts, including disputes involving foreign law. Ilya has experience of working on complex corporate disputes, insolvency (bankruptcy) cases, real estate and asset ownership disputes, contractual disputes and other liability proceedings, enforcement orders for arbitration rulings, and recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitration rulings. Since 2010, he has been a member of the League of Mediators, which brings together specialists highly experienced in the resolution of business conflicts of every degree of complexity. Ilya Tur graduated from St. Petersburg State University School of Law.

Sergiy Grebenyuk is Co-head of the White Collar Crime (WCC) practice in Ukraine, representing clients in pre-trial investigations and in criminal trials. He has particular experience in providing legal defense for businesses, conducting internal corporate investigations of possible violations, advising on issues of corruption, as well as in complying with the mandatory procedures in these areas. Before joining EPA&P, Sergiy worked for law enforcement agencies, and for the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, where he started his career as chief adviser and then grew to the head of department of representation in the courts and control of application of the legislation on elections and referendums. In 2012 he was elected Vice Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association.

Sergiy obtained his Master of Law degree from Yaroslav the Wise National Law Academy in Ukraine.

Dmytro Marchukov is a Counsel of International Arbitration and Litigation practice of the Firm in Ukraine. His practice areas include representing foreign and Ukrainian clients in commercial, civil and arbitration proceedings, as well as in enforcement proceedings. His professional interests also cover asset recovery and investment; he is an expert on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judicial and arbitral awards.

Mr. Marchukov was involved in a number of investment and commercial arbitration disputes under the rules of ICSID, SCC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules (1976 and 2010), as well as under the rules of the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Dmytro is recognized by Chambers Europe 2012 as one of the leading experts in his field that ‘..impresses peers with his dedication and hard work.’

Mr. Marchukov received a Master of International Commercial Arbitration Law at the Stockholm University (LL.M) in Sweden and a Master of International Law at the Institute of International Relations of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University in Ukraine and also studied at the Lund University in Sweden.

Roman Stepanenko specializes in banking and finance, capital markets, banking law and securities regulations as well as subsoil and energy regulations in Ukraine. Roman has particular experience in advising clients on capital markets deals (including debt and equity markets) and structured finance products.

He assists market leading investment banks, hedge funds and other institutional investors with structuring of their derivative products for offering to Ukraine-based clients. Roman also advises clients on interbank derivatives transactions in Ukraine, as well as complex transactions documented by ISDA and other ancillary documentation.

Roman advises clients on regulatory matters in the field of energy, oil & gas, he is also regularly involved in transactional work for clients of the energy sector. He advises clients on various Ukrainian law matters related to entry into joint activity agreements, production sharing agreements in the field of exploration and production of mineral resources. He also focuses on regulatory aspects of subsoil in Ukraine, including licensing, reporting, etc.

Roman obtained his Master of International Law degree from Kyiv International University, Institute of International Relations.
