IFLR 1000 recommends EPAM for all CIS jurisdictions

The newly released edition of IFLR 1000, аn annual legal guide focused on finance and corporate law, distinguishes EPAM as “the biggest firm in its homeland and the CIS” and highly recommends it for all jurisdictions of its presence in the region including Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

In Russia, the Guide recommends EPAM for four practice areas, including M&A, project finance, banking, as well as restructuring and insolvency. IFLR1000 highlights that the Firm “strengthened this year with the addition of two new partners”: Andrey Vorobyev, who joined the real estate team, and international M&A Partner Robin Wittering. The Guide mentions that EPAM under the lead of Arkady Krasnikhin advised Metro Group on its sale of Real Eastern Europe to the French retailer Groupe Auchan valued at 1.1 bln Euro .

The sources say the Firm is “undoubtedly strongest” in restructuring and insolvency due to its “exceptional team” which is “the best choice for work in complex bankruptcy matters in Russia”.

In Belarus, the Firm’s team is ranked in the highest tier. “One of the top firms in the country” now “benefits from a wider network of its offices”.

Local Managing Partner Dennis Turovets is the firm's most prominent figure and distinguished as one of the strongest lawyers in this jurisdiction. Clients say “he is a very intelligent lawyer” who “always finds solutions.” He advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on funding its largest infrastructure project in Belarus to date: a technology park in Minsk. He also took the lead when the firm advised Stadler Rail, Europe's largest train manufacturer, on a joint-venture with the state to establish operations in the country.

This year in Ukraine the Firm earns top positions in banking and M&A categories being praised for “good reputation for all its work”. The Firm’s banking and finance, capital markets team is recognized as one of the best teams dealing with really challenging issues.

Within the last year the Firm’s work “has been interesting and varied, including restructurings, acquisition and project financings and bond issues, acting for the banks, borrowers and issuers.” IFLR recommends Oksana Ilchenko, Partner of local M&A practice, who advised clients on several cross-border transactions, and Counsel Oleg Boichuk who advised the owner of Metallist football club on its sale.
