On December 8, 2021, the State Duma Energy Committee created a working group tasked with improving the statutory regulation of restricted zones and zones of minimum distance to main or industrial pipelines. The Arbitration Centre at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) has established a Board for intellectual property disputes. The President of the RSPP has approved the Board’s arbitrators - recognized scientists and practitioners of the intellectual property market, many of whom have been directly involved in creating the basis for the regulation of IP in Russia. Helen Avakyan, Counsel at EPAM, was appointed as the Chairman of the Board. Pavel Sadovsky, Partner and Head of Intellectual Property / TMT Practice was appointed as an arbitrator of the Board.

The first non-profit association of digital financial assets (DFAs) market professionals was recently established in Russia and Helen Avakyan, Counsel at EPAM and a member of the Russian Federal Chamber of Lawyers Council, has joined the Supervisory Board of the Association along with competent experts in economics, finance and law.
EPAM advised a large e-sports brands in connections with the launch of an Internet platform for Russian users, fans of a professional e-sports team. The platform provides for a loyalty program for its registered users, which gives rewards for being part of the fans’ community. It allows its users to exchange points for goods or services offered in a reward shop and acquire rewards through participating in various experiences.

On 2 June, on the sidelines of the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Government of Leningrad Region and joint stock company Knauf Petrobord, a member of the Knauf Group. The agreement includes an investment by Knauf of at least RUB 3.5 billion to renovate production facilities for cardboard facing over the period to 2020, and provision of investor support by the Government of Leningrad Region.
The Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation today announced its ruling on a challenge to the constitutionality of article 302, paragraph 1 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation lodged by Alexander Dubovets, in which it accepted the plaintiff’s argument. Danone Russia and Soyuzmultfilm have signed an agreement to produce a series of sequels to the popular animated short film Three from Prostokvashino. The terms of cooperation provide that shooting is to start in 2017. Danone Russia will act as the project originator and will use the project to promote Russia’s largest dairy brand, Prostokvashino, on an ongoing basis.
A team from EPAM has successfully defended the interests of EGGER, one of Europe’s largest wood product manufacturing companies. The firm proved that the company’s technological equipment is unique and obtained permission from the Russian Government for the import of equipment on preferential terms.
